Cebu Fun Divers is mostly dedicated to certified divers enjoying fun dives here in Moalboal. However, we offer also introductory dives directly at our shop here in the resort. If you plan to get certified as a PADI Open Water Diver or any other advanced course, from PADI Advanced Open Water Diver to Rescue Diver to Divemaster or even PADI Dive Instructor, you can do this here in Moalboal, too.

Open Water

The PADI Open Water Diver course includes three parts: Knowledge Development, Confined Water Dives, and Open Water Dives. Knowledge Development covers the principles, concepts and terms you need to know for dive safety and enjoyment. During the Confined Water Dives, you learn and practice scuba skills in a pool or water with pool-like conditions. You’ll enjoy making one or more minidives, which take you through the same steps you follow when you make open water dives. To complete training you practice, apply and demonstrate what you learn during four Open Water Dives at a local dive site.

Prerequisites for the PADI Open Water Diver Course

  • Minimum age: 10 years old (students aged 10–14 will earn the Junior Open Water Diver certification)

  • Basic swimming ability: You must be able to swim 200 meters and float or tread water for 10 minutes

  • Good physical health: All participants must complete a medical questionnaire—some conditions may require a doctor’s clearance

  • No prior diving experience needed: This is your first step into the underwater world!

Your diving skills will be developed in 5 lessons at the swimming pool or the shallow part of reef just in front of the dive center. After skill development you will conduct 4 Open Water Dives in the open sea to depth ranging up to 18m / 60f on the last dives.

Typical Day of Training
  • 9:00-12:00: dive theory, in-water training
  • 12:00-13:30: lunch
  • 13:30-17:00: dive theory, in-water training
Please remember that divers are not allowed to fly for minimum 18 hours from their last dive. It is recommended to a minimum of 3 days for the course and 1 day to rest before flying back.

Advanced Open Water

The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver eLearning is designed to improve your underwater knowledge and skills. You can enroll immediately after earning your PADI Open Water Diver certification regardless of your skill level. The course helps you build confidence in navigation, fine-tune buoyancy skills and introduces you to different diving activities such as wreck diving, night diving or underwater imaging. After completing your eLearning, you’ll make five Adventure Dives: a deep dive (beyond 18m/60F), a navigation dive, and three additional Adventure Dives of your choice to earn your certification.

Prerequisites for the PADI Advanced Open Water Course

  • Minimum certification level: PADI Open Water Diver (or equivalent from another recognized agency)

  • Minimum age: 12 years old for Junior AOW (with depth and supervision limits), 15 years old for full certification

  • Recent diving experience: A refresher is recommended if you haven’t been diving in the last 6–12 months

  • Good physical health: All participants must complete a dive medical questionnaire; a doctor’s clearance may be needed if required by your answers

Over two days, you’ll complete five adventure dives—including Deep and Underwater Navigation—guided by our experienced instructors. Rescue Diver

Challenge yourself and become a more confident diver with our PADI Rescue Diver course in Moalboal. Over three days, you’ll learn to prevent and manage dive emergencies through realistic scenarios and hands-on training. It’s serious fun that will change the way you dive—forever.

Prerequisites for the PADI Rescue Diver Course

  • Minimum certification level: PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent from another recognized agency)

  • First Aid & CPR certification: Must have completed Emergency First Response (EFR) Primary and Secondary Care training within the past 24 months (or hold an equivalent certification)

  • Minimum age: 12 years old (with Junior Advanced Open Water rating)

  • Good physical health: You’ll need to complete a medical questionnaire—doctor’s clearance may be required if any conditions are flagged

  • Recent diving experience: We recommend a refresher if you haven’t been diving in the last 6 months

Rescue Diver In-Water Training Highlights

During the practical sessions of the PADI Rescue Diver course, you’ll develop hands-on skills through a series of challenging and realistic scenarios, including:

  • Assisting tired and panicked divers on the surface and underwater

  • Responding to unresponsive divers, including surfacing, exiting, and providing in-water rescue breaths

  • Performing search patterns to locate missing divers using compass and natural navigation

  • Practicing rescue breathing and in-water artificial respiration using a pocket mask

  • Managing diver stress and taking control during emergency situations

  • Using emergency oxygen units and surface signaling devices (if included in your training)

  • Working as part of a team during rescue scenarios and emergency drills

Nitrox Diver

Nitrox Diver is an entry-level course for divers wishing to continue their diver education and utilize enriched air nitrox as a breathing gas to extend no-decompression limits at depth. You can expect to learn the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for using nitrox mixes from 22 through 40 percent oxygen content; equipment considerations, cylinder labeling, analyzing nitrox mixtures, and gas blending procedures.

PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver Course – Prerequisites

  • Minimum certification level: PADI Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another training agency)

  • Minimum age: 12 years old

  • Good physical health: Participants must complete a standard dive medical questionnaire

You do not need to have logged dives on nitrox to take this course—most of the training is knowledge-based and can be done in a classroom or via eLearning.

This course can be conveniently combined with your PADI Advanced Open Water course. Many divers choose to complete both at the same time to make the most of their training dives—especially the deeper ones—using Enriched Air for longer no-decompression limits and shorter surface intervals.

PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver – Course Overview

Most of the PADI Enriched Air Diver course is theory-based, focusing on how to safely plan and dive with Enriched Air Nitrox. You’ll learn how to analyze oxygen content in a tank, set your dive computer for EANx, and understand the benefits and limits of diving with higher oxygen mixes.

The in-water portion is optional, but we highly recommend doing one training dive on Nitrox to apply what you’ve learned and get comfortable with real-world planning and procedures.

This course is a great add-on to your PADI Advanced Open Water course—many students combine both to dive deeper and stay down longer using Enriched Air on Adventure Dives like Deep and Wreck.
